Course NT-SM Software asset management

How much money do you spend each year on software, hardware, and cloud technology, do you really need it, and how do you know you have it?

Are you planning to switch to a new licensing model or to the "cloud"?

Or perhaps you are facing a future reorganization or sale of a business, in which taking inventory, including IT assets, is a mandatory condition?

Cost-effective IT asset management (ITAM) is vital to the success of businesses in an environment that is changing too quickly. Therefore, well-structured accounting and auditing processes are essential for many companies.

In this course, you will learn about the options for building a structured accounting of the company's software assets based on the SAM (Software Asset Management) methodology.

During the course, the following will be considered:

  • general concepts and levels of the SAM optimization model at the enterprise, according to  standard ISO 19770-1
  • types of SAM/SLM (Cloud-Ready SAM, Virtualization, Mobile Device Management, Cybersecurity SAM, etc.)
  • stages of conducting a software audit from the initiation of the project to the issuance of a report with recommendations on the implementation of SAM procedures at the enterprise
  • subtleties of license agreements – what you should pay attention to when agreeing to use the software
  • risks of using free software
  • the list of attributes that confirm the rights to use the software (components of the license that must be kept) is given.
